What that covers, and what it does not

Measured on: Surface softness and reduced scaling on application, from a triglyceride emollient deposit.

An oleic- and linoleic-acid triglyceride used at 2-20% or neat; it deposits on the stratum corneum and softens and flattens scale from the moment it is applied. The longer-horizon claims attached to it, nourishing and mild anti-aging, have no onset I can defend: the human studies that exist involve massage as part of the intervention (for example stretch-mark work in pregnancy), which confounds the oil with mechanical stimulation and uses a narrow population. Its documented risks, nut-allergy reactions and comedogenicity, are separate questions from efficacy timing.

No efficacy-timing trial identified for the emollient or anti-aging outcome. Mechanism for the softening effect; the pregnancy stretch-mark literature on almond oil is massage-confounded and is described, not cited by PMID.

  • This rating comes from old lab tests on the isolated ingredient, not the finished product.
  • The full formula, how much is used, and your own skin all matter more than one number.
  • If you are acne-prone it is worth noticing, not a reason to avoid it on sight.
