The three pieces are meant to be apart. Zinc Gluconate is a salt, and its parts are held to each other by opposite charges rather than by a bond.

The Glow take

Can help, with honest expectations.

When your goal is calming breakouts and congestion, Zinc Gluconate can genuinely help, though the evidence is still thin, so keep expectations gentle. It tends to suit combination skin best.

Give it eight to twelve weeks, and possibly less: that is simply when it was measured.

What was measured, and in whom

Measured on: reduction in inflammatory acne lesions.

A double blind placebo controlled trial of oral zinc gluconate at 200 mg daily reported a significantly better inflammatory acne score than placebo, but the abstract gives no timepoint of any kind. A second double blind study in 67 patients supports the conventional three month regimen. Both are oral, so the onset of any topical effect is unknown.

Zinc Gluconate, answered

Is Zinc Gluconate safe during pregnancy?

Yes. Zinc Gluconate is considered safe to use during pregnancy and breastfeeding. As with anything, if you are unsure it is worth a quick word with your doctor or midwife.

Who should avoid Zinc Gluconate?

No specific group is flagged to avoid Zinc Gluconate. It is well tolerated by most skin. Still, introduce anything new one product at a time.

What concentration of Zinc Gluconate actually works?

Its concentration is rarely printed on the label, so use the ingredient list as your clue: near the top third it is likely doing real work, near the bottom it is more of a sprinkle.
