The three pieces are meant to be apart. Zinc PCA is a salt, and its parts are held to each other by opposite charges rather than by a bond.

The Glow take

Genuinely worth a spot in your routine.

When your goal is calming breakouts and congestion, Zinc PCA pulls genuine weight, with a solid amount of evidence behind it. It tends to suit combination skin best.

What is known, and what is missing

Measured on: Sebum output, sebumeter.

The widely quoted line that 1% zinc PCA significantly lowers sebum at 4 weeks traces to supplier technical literature, not to an identifiable published trial. The recent clinical work puts zinc PCA in a regimen with salicylic acid and prebiotics (20 volunteers, 30 days, sebumeter down about 9%), where salicylic acid confounds it entirely. The 5-alpha-reductase and antibacterial support is in vitro and carries no human timeline.

Zinc PCA, answered

Is Zinc PCA safe during pregnancy?

Yes. Zinc PCA is considered safe to use during pregnancy and breastfeeding. As with anything, if you are unsure it is worth a quick word with your doctor or midwife.

Who should avoid Zinc PCA?

No specific group is flagged to avoid Zinc PCA. It is well tolerated by most skin. Still, introduce anything new one product at a time.

What concentration of Zinc PCA actually works?

Zinc PCA tends to do its job in the 0.5 to 1% range. Much lower and it is likely underdosed.
