What that covers, and what it does not

Measured on: Skin softening and reduced water loss from the applied lipid film (corneometer / TEWL within the hour).

Marula is an oleic-dominant triglyceride used neat or as a large part of the lipid phase, so the emollient outcome is physics: a lipid film sits on the stratum corneum and slows evaporation as soon as it is spread, with nothing being remodelled. What is not immediate and not timed is everything else this row credits - elasticity, antioxidant benefit - where the small studies behind them report no onset, and oleic-rich oils are not reliably barrier-repairing with continued use (the olive oil barrier work is the cautionary case). So the bucket covers the film, and the basis flags that it does not cover the rest.

Emollient/occlusive film physics; small hydration and elasticity studies on marula oil report no time course

Marula Oil, answered

Is Marula Oil safe during pregnancy?

Yes. Marula Oil is considered safe to use during pregnancy and breastfeeding. As with anything, if you are unsure it is worth a quick word with your doctor or midwife.

Who should avoid Marula Oil?

Approach Marula Oil with care if any of these apply to you: acne prone and very oily. It carries a moderate risk of clogging pores, so acne-prone skin should go carefully.

What concentration of Marula Oil actually works?

Its concentration is rarely printed on the label, so use the ingredient list as your clue: near the top third it is likely doing real work, near the bottom it is more of a sprinkle.
